The next week I presented my idea in class as everyone else was sharing theirs in a group for us to discuss what we liked and disliked about it and I found nearly everyone was drawn to the images in my mood board and appreciated the natural organic textures that they felt could be incorporated in a design. I found it was an important exercise to share our ideas and where we were all heading and which similarities could be found in all our ideas to bring them together. After this we were divided into groups and I worked with Camden, Izabel and Daisy as we had the most similar ideas and sources of inspiration relating to 3D textures and fabric.

The Sizoweb material I bought at the art shop

Camden had really interesting 3D textures she had made from paper and she was drawn to an image in my moodboard on an installation by an artist using dry plaster that held a paper like texture and she wanted to experiment with this further, so went to the art store on campus and I managed to find a material that was nearly an exact match to the web like fabric references Izabel and I wanted to experiment with.

It was called Sizoweb which was an artificial fabric made from Polyester and Polyamide. After sharing this with the group Una joined in and we all took both our ideas further inspired by these materials.

On Wednesday we were pushed to make choices fast because the deadline for our pitch to Design LSM was approaching next week and we were running out of time as a group. The main problem we all faced was that their was an abundance of ideas and we were overwhelmed with choice that made it difficult to narrow down a design and have a layout to work with which made all our canvases a point of experimentation but that stage had prolonged for far too long and we had to make a decision on at least three strong ideas to present. Eventually after going back and forth with ideas, Claire pulled out the collages we worked on as a group the week before since she found those good starting points with potential that could be combined with the research and work we had put in to the designs following those.
