I continued working on my progress I’d made on the storyboards last week. What I realized was the main challenge I faced was drawing the boards quickly according to my Shot List, since each shot consisted of camera angles and rapidly changing perspectives I had to often pause and search up reference to understand where to place my object and characters in the scene. This is what mostly delayed the process because often it was not accurate to the character’s height or build.

By the end of the week I’d reached a good 41 storyboards after reformatting them in Photoshop to fit the aspect ratio needed for me to edit them into a timeline in Premier Pro. I found that the process of completing a set of storyboards and then editing them immediately in the timeline and going back into my Shot List and continuing it this way made me keep track of the pacing in the edited timeline as well as sped up my drawing ability to get the boards done as soon as possible so at least we had a first draft of completed to then rework on further.

I learned a lot it this week in really understanding that storyboarding, unlike the previous Unit's animatic where I painstakingly drew and redrew frames in detail - that less really is more in this form of art. It actually had very little to do with art, but far more with communication and the ability to do it well by giving as much clarity as possible in very little time. This at times became a bit monotonous as I had to constantly go back and forth to keeping up with the quick changes but this essential process and feedback, overall helped us eliminate unnecessary sequences that were not as important to the narrative.
