Week 9

The next week I was faced with an issue mid animation where firstly I had been animating on the wrong rig because she wasn’t scaled to fit the environment and was missing her new clothing with the addition of her socks on her feet. I was naturally confused because we had a good three different Girl.blend rigs on our drive and when the new versions were being uploaded the old ones weren’t deleted, and that’s exactly what I ended up downloading and key framing to my heart's content.

This was thankfully a simple fix because I had to just re-append her animations saved within the Action Editor in the Dope Sheet, into the new file with the environment and girl to scale, from my current work. After doing so, I face slammed into another problem when I opened the file in the systems in class and found she had no body and her rig was performing the actions like a ghostly skeleton. I very quickly learned the reason for this magic and that was because I was working on the latest version of blender on my laptop and thought updating it would speed up my work but it ended up not being compatible at all with the older versions in the systems in class.

Once this issue was solved with help I continued animating the now divided shots and found a strange dotted line attached to my character rig originating from the mid point of the X and Y axis in the layout and this was causing her to spin towards that point like a helicopter in the midst of performing an action.

This left me with her slowly opening the door standing before it in the first shot on one keyframe to her suddenly being pivoted back like a boomerang in mid air, and this left me very confused for a good day and a half after repeatedly trying to check if her base had any keyframes on it that caused this but was left with nothing wrong in her rig.

After looking it up online I found a solution where there was a particular setting called ‘relationship lines’ in the viewport that I had to disable in her rig, and after doing so it stopped her flying around like a Ferris wheel.
